Do you know international students who want to restart their US university experience? They might be eligible for INTO Drew’s New Start Undergraduate Transfer Pathway (UTP) program.

Students who can explain the cause of their past academic struggles are eligible. They must also be willing to make a plan to improve.

What is Drew’s New Start UTP program?

INTO Drew will admit students who’ve demonstrated academic success in high school but were not provided the proper support or given the necessary tools to succeed in university.

Students who are accepted into the program can take advantage of Drew’s small class sizes. Smaller class sizes help foster close connections between students and their professors. The help will be individualized, ensuring each student gets the support they need to succeed.

Also, students will have full access to many resources. These include academic coaching and peer tutoring.

Students who require late arrivals on a case-by-case basis are also accepted.

Which students are eligible to apply for the New Start UTP program?

  • Students who’ve studied at a previous university and have earned lower than a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

  • Students who have a secondary school GPA of 2.75 or better.

  • Students who can explain their previous academic struggles and can develop behaviors to correct their past mistakes.

What do students need to submit with their New Start UTP application?

  • Both high school and university transcripts. A 2.75 high school GPA is required if the university GPA is below 2.0.

  • The dean’s conduct report from their previous university. The report can be requested by the student from their campus dean of students. (If agents have difficulty securing this report, Drew can assist.)

  • A personal statement explaining the reason for the student’s struggles at the prior university.

  • English scores that meet the UTP entry requirements.

FAQ

1. Does the student need to have 30 transferable credits?

No, as long as the other documents are submitted.

2. Will failed classes elsewhere be counted towards a student’s Drew cumulative GPA?

Students interested in the combined degree programs in engineering with Columbia or Washington University should speak with an advisor before transferring credits.

3. Is the New Start UTP entry option only for students who’ve studied in the US? Is it also open to students who’ve completed university-level courses globally?

It is open to students globally.
