Traveling by train
  • Amtrak is the main regional train service across the US. You can travel via regional train easily from campus to other cities and states.

  • The Heartland flyer is an Amtrak regional train that travels daily between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth, Texas. As a transit hub, you can travel to many US cities from Fort Worth.

  • The Texas Eagle is another Amtrak train route that goes from Fort Worth to Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio and Los Angeles.

First Year Research Experience (FYRE - Undergraduate):

  • Complete a semester-long internship with an on-campus research group. Our First Year Research Experience (FYRE) lets select first-year Honors students gain career-building experiences in STEM fields.

  • Earn three graded hours of honors credit by participating in FYRE.

  • Who can participate? FYRE is open to all first-year Honors students and students who apply to the Honors College at the same time as FYRE. All majors are eligible to apply.

Institute for Applied Surfactant Research (IASR)

  • At the Institute for Applied Surfactant Research, undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral students, and researchers come together from a variety of disciplines to research phase equilibrium, sand pack, and core flood studies for both environmental and crude oil recovery applications.

The Integrated Core Characterization Center

  • Complete industry-level experiments at the Amoco Rock Physics Laboratory. This lab serves the industrial, commercial, and academic communities. Here, you’ll find the widest range of measurement and research opportunities in the industry.

The Center for Biomass Refining

  • Specialize in one of the most in-demand industries of the future: renewable energy. The center for biomass refining (CBR) is one of several key elements of the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center.

  • The center focuses on creating scientific and technological solutions to convert biomass into finished renewable energy products that meet industry and sustainability standards.

The Well Construction Technology Center

  • Who else can say they used lab equipment for the oil industry during their studies other than OU alumni? Our Well Construction Technology Center is an advanced research center that gives access to high pressure, high temperature fluid flow applications using both field scale and lab scale equipment for the oil industry.
