This 18, 10 or 6 week English preparation course will provide you with short and intensive preparation in academic English. It's suitable for you if you're already academically qualified and are due to start an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Exeter. Please note: there may be a variation in English language requirements depending on your intended degree program.

English Language Requirements

Degrees requiring IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 overall: IELTS 6.0 an nothing less than 5.5 , PTE 64 and nothing less than 59 , TOEFL IBT 87 overall, 17 in Writing, 17 in Listening, 18 in Reading, 20 in Speaking.

Degrees requiring IELTS 6.5 and nothing less than 6.5: IELTS 6.0 and nothing less than 6.0 , PTE 64 and nothing less than 64 , TOEFL IBT 87 overall 21 in Writing, 21 in Listening, 21 in Reading, 21 in Speaking

Degrees requiring IELTS 7.0 nothing less than 6.0: IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in Reading, 6.0 in another subskill and nothing less than 5.5 , PTE 67 with 64 in Reading and another subskill and nothing less 59 , TOEFL IBT 90 overall with 21 in Reading and Speaking, 17 in Listening and Writing.

Only an official IELTS result or equivalent recognised English language test will be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.

A wide range of English language tests are accepted by the University for entry, including TOEFL iBT and Pearson PTE. Speak to your education counsellor for more details.

Students with offers for the 10 or 6 week course may be eligible for a joint CAS, which allows you to apply for a visa to cover both the Pre-sessional course and subsequent degree. To be considered for this, you need to pay the INTO Pre-sessional initial payment, and any academic conditions on the University of Exeter offer need to have been met.

All students who confirm their offer on or before 31 January 2026 2025 will pay the 2025/2026 price as per their existing offer letter. After 31 January 2026, where tuition fees have increased, all current offers will be reissued and students will receive a new offer with the new 2026/2027 pricing. Please note that the fees listed are for Year 1 of study only.
